3D scanning

3D scanning is a process, in which you can receive a digital model of the physical product. Digital  models may be used as the basis for 3D printing or to produce products with the use of CNC machines.

Use:

reverse engineering – creation of CAD documentation on the basis of 3D scans
quality control of surface geometry of a real product with a CAD model

creation of virtual museum or archival objects as well as virtual objects for industrial and artistic design
support of modelling processes in computer graphics and multimedia

Advantages:

opportunity to obtain a digital model of a real object in a contact-free way
      high precision of re-creation
recording of scanned objects in STL format
opportunity to modify a digital model
